I did it!

As Isis says when she does the most basic of tasks, "I did it!"
My husband is working late tonight. The very thought of trying to do what needed to be done at home without him here to help filled me with dread. I was ready to cry and cling to the nanny's legs when she left. But, tonight went strangely well.
Okay, not totally well. The cat vomited all over the papers on the counter (EWWWWWWWW!!!!!). The baby vomited all over everything (Meh. I'm getting used to it.) As I changed the baby, I had to leave him naked and rolling on the changing table to run into the kitchen and pick up Isis who had fallen on her face and was screaming like someone was killing her.
But, the baby didn't pee or fall off. Isis was okay. And it went okay. Isis got a bath. Both kids went to bed on time and in pajamas. Isis brushed her teeth and I brushed her hair. Dinner was cleaned up and the dishes got done. We read a book. Isis even helped me put away the laundry in her room.
After the kids went to bed, I got my homework done and actually got a little ahead on my homework for later this week. I had some candy and a beer. I even pumped. It was stunning!
I have to thank my supporting cast: Isis, the strangely cooperative toddler. And Orion, the baby who only cried for a few minutes when put in bed. This is unusual for both these kids. I think they knew mommy couldn't take it if they weren't great.
I'm afraid, however, that the kids have filled me with false hope. Jeff was told today that he has to put in overtime for a while. While today went well, I can see the kids cooperating for only so long.
