Big Girl
I can't believe what an amazing little person my baby girl is. I write this after having just checked on her. She is sound asleep. This is her first night in her "big girl bed." I guess while I was at work, the nanny and Grandma decided it was "time." They're right, of course, but I never would have had the fortitude to do it right now. I knew she was ready, but I wasn't ready yet.
She had a little fit when we told her she was going to sleep in the big girl bed. She had a bit of a tantrum. She lay down though and initially just was going to pout and be mean to us. But, she eventually let mommy lay down next to her.
The minute my head touched the pillow, she cuddled up to me and said, "I love you mommy." Oh lord what a sweetie.
She sucked her thumb like mad.
Eventually, I whispered to her that I loved her more than the stars. I told her I was going to go into the kitchen with grandma and she said, "ok." I asked her, "are you going to stay in bed and go to sleep?" She said, "yeah." And she did.
I read in many places about how the first night in the big bed involves getting out of bed over and over again and putting them back in bed, but she just flipped over and put her feet where her head was and her head where her feet were and went to sleep.
Lately, she has stayed awake for hours in the crib. It really was "time" for the big girl bed.
What an amazing person. She's so strong.
Plus, she has the cutest dang nose!
